Despite the focus on the RWC and Irelands match against Argentina, a significant number of our sailors were on the water in a range of events last weekend.
The Fireball Leinsters took place in Clontarf, with Alan Henry getting to terms with the fleet in this his second season on the circuit. With regular crew from his IDRA14 days Simon Revill riding shotgun, Alan finished 5th behind McCartin/Kinsela and Butler/Oram. The lads are starting to ‘bite the heels’ of the top 3 and with further work are looking forward to improving their challenging next year.
The final GP14 event of the season, The Hot Toddy was held in Mullingar on Saturday and Sunday. With Hugh and Dan Gill between boats, Alan Blay preparing for exams and a family engagement keeping Class President Stephen Boyle away, it was left to Katie Dwyer & Michelle Rowley to represent Sutton Dinghy Club. Stephens boat however made the event with well known dinghy sailor Sean Craig on the stick with Sutton Dinghy Clubs David Johnston as crew. 
The Mullingar Club accommodated the rugby game with 4 races on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday and everybody in the Clubhouse for 1pm and kick-off. The event was won by Ger Owens & Mel Morris with Shane McCarthy & Damian Bracken 2nd. Despite a DNS in race 3, Sean & David took 3rd overall. In probably one of their last events in the familiar green boat Katie & Michelle finished 8th overall and 1st Silver. The word on the street is that Katie has a new (practically) boat on the way and looking forward to next season. Check out the Afloat report on this event by our own David Johnston.
Also in Clontarf, the final series of races for the Autumn Open series took place on Saturday with Alan Carr & Ian McCormack taking 1st with Charles Sargent & Granddaughter Caoimhe Sargent taking 2nd in IDRA14 and the Kenilworth Trophy.
Remember our Kanoodle Frostbite continues again on Nov 1st (FG 3pm) so we hope to see a few GP14 & IDRA14 down.
