Better late than never. 2 Sutton boats traveled north to Lough Erne (June 12/13)for the 2015 GP14 Ulsters. GP14 Ulsters 2015

Alan Blay was attending as defending Champion having taken the title with David Johnston last year in Donaghdee. Alan had Niamh McCormack as crew. With exams for both Alan and David having been a priority, this was a first outing of the season for Alan and expectations were for a good and competitive event rather than of retaining the title. Also in attendance was Sutton’s Stephen Boyle, GP14 Class President who was crewing for his son Peter who has taken to the boat over the last month with great gusto.

Alan and Niamh posted a very satisfactory 5th from 31 entries in an event won by Shane McCarthy and Damian Bracken. Peter and Stephen finished 15th overall and took 2nd in bronze fleet. A huge result for 13yr old Peter. Looks to me like Stephen will struggle to get back on the helm unless he buys himself a new boat. The results and full report written by Ger Owens is available on the GP14 website.
