Ages: 10 and older or 9 if trainee has sucessfully
completed SDC Taste of Sailing Opi course
The
aim of these courses is to provide young people
with the opportunity to try the sport of dinghy
sailing in a friendly, fun-filled and safe environment.
It is our mission to infuse our novices with such
a love of the sport that they want to keep coming
back for more. We provide all necessary equipment
for these starter courses.

Our fun filled Taste of Sailing
Opi Course is for young children who want to try
dinghy sailing for the first time and enjoy the
fun, the sea and getting comfortable with jumping
in and out of dinghies at Sutton Creek. This is
designed to allay children's fears of the water,
give them a feel for dinghy sailing and encourage
them to appreciate the marine environment and life
at Sutton
Dinghy Club.

per person, non-refundable, before deadline Friday

aim of these courses is to provide a hands on introduction
to dinghy sailing for beginners. By the end of the course
participants will have had an exciting introduction
to the sport of sailing, including basic boat handling
techniques and essential background knowledge. It is
recommended that all participants consolidate this short
introduction with the Basic Skills course.

EQUIPMENT
Sutton Dinghy Club provides all necessary safety equipment.
Trainees are advised to bring:
- a change of clothes, including two sweatshirts, T shirt,
shorts and hat
- swimsuit and towel
- sun cream
- soft footwear - runners, canvas shoes or dinghy booties
- light rain gear
- wet-suit if available
- a packed lunch for full-day courses
