Mirror Worlds Crews 2017This weekend sees the kick off of the Mirror World Championships in Restronguet Sailing Club, Cornwall. Sutton Dinghy Clubs Oscar Langan will be flying the flag with his crew Luaghaidh Croasdel from Lough Ree Yacht Club. With practice races over the weekend, the first race is on Monday 31st. The Puppeteer Nationals takes place in Howth this weekend with a number of our members and current dinghy sailors competing. Hoping to regain the title will be Scorie Walls skippering Goldust, while Alan Blay and David Johnston will be aiming to improve on 3rd last year in Alan Pearsons Trick or Treat. Our Commodore Jim Lambkin takes the helm of Kieran Barker Papagina. Further Club involvement sees Harry Gallagher as PRO for the event. The event concludes on Sunday with 3 races on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.

2017 Regatta Across the BayLast weekend saw Sutton Dinghy Club Annual Regatta take place on Sunday. A beautiful day saw 60 boats including 8 IDRA14, 5 GP14 and 11 Laser Radials. As well as Mirrors, Toppers and Laser 4.7 we saw 20 young Opi sailors including 14 Regatta fleet some racing for the very first time.

2017 Regatta OptimistThe weather gods favoured us this year following or cancellation last year and each fleet had 2 excellent races. HYC visitor Jamie McMahon won the Laser Radials, Alan Carr & Dana Kilroy took the IDRA14 prize, by winning the second race Stephen Boyle & Michelle Rowley took the GP14 prize after a 3 way tie that included son Peter Boyle & Shane McLoughlin and Hugh Gill & Conor Twohig. The Laser 4.7 prize was won by Cliona Fitzpatrick (MYC), with Aoife McMahon (HYC) first in Topper and Sophie Kilmartin (MYC) first in Optimist. Oisin Kelly from the host Club won the Opi Regatta fleet. The full set of results are on the website.
