The event was well attended overall with 19 boats from all over Ireland attending – including a new club from Kilrush sailing Mirror 69999 which originally hailed from Sutton Dinghy Club.

Saturday saw three good races with conditions very light for race number 1, which had the course shortened leading to some controversy later on. Conditions were heavier for races two and three with Sutton boats showing well in Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets.

Off the water there was a protest against the race officer which resulted in race 1 being discarded. Results overnight saw Jack Ryan from LRYC leading with Shane , Conor and Caolan Craosdell from LRYC all tied for second place. Sunday saw heavier and wetter conditions with two races held. Very competitive racing in both races with the overall results depending on the positions in the last race.Mirror Easterns Tess and Nicole

When the dust had settled Sutton had taken first prize in Bronze with Oscar & Lugaidh, first prize in Silver with Nicole & Tess and 2nd & 3rd in Gold with Shane and Conor & Brian respectively. Overall winner of the event was Jack Ryan from LRYC with three out of four first places in the process.

The mirrors are now looking forward to next regional event in Lough Ree YC on Aug 8th / 9th and also the National Championships in Royal Cork YC on Aug 20th-23rd.

All Bronze / Silver fleet sailors thinking of travelling to an event please contact Class Captain Sean Langan or Mirror Association rep Denise Twohig and we can help you with the “in’s and outs” of travelling to a regatta. The mirror events are very family friendly and a great way to cement a “go-racing” or “kites and wires” course this summer. (Denise Twohig).
