Speaking
at the prize giving Alan Carr, skipper of IDRA 14 / 38 and
winner of the Carlsberg Cup said "On behalf of the IDRA
class, I want to thank the Commodore Aidan Henry and his
team for hosting a brilliant regatta. This has been a remarkable
event. I have been sailing at Sutton Dinghy Club for over
40 years and have never seen a regatta like it. There were
90 entries from over half a dozen clubs. It was great to
see so many junior sailors involved. The racing was brilliantly
organized. Onshore and on the water, the whole regatta was
expertly run. I want to thank you Aidan, our commodore,
and your team for putting on such a marvellous event. We
all appreciate the extraordinary work you have done."
|
A
fantastic day was had by all for the for the SDC Regatta on
Sunday. 89 boats entered, with 51 Boats from Sutton. There
was great support from all the clubs with entries from Courtown
SC (3), Howth YC ( 9), Royal St. George YC(2), Malahide YC
(8), Skerries SC(3) and CY&BC (12) There were 14 entries
in the main fleet with two races held in challenging weather
but unfortunately during their break the wind dropped considerably.
|
The
Oppies
were out in full force with 19 junior sailors on
the inshore course guided by Wendy Rudd and Alan Blay. They
had two races before the wind dropped.
The tuck shop was in full swing all day and at the finish
of racing Barbque Burgers and refreshments were available
organised by Caroline Farrelly and her team.
Thank
you to all who helped to organise this very important Event
in the SDC diary.
