2024 Sailing Courses
The attached Sailing Course T&C’s and Booking Conditions must be read, agreed to and accepted when making a booking.
NOTE – With significant interest in our Members courses, it is imperative that Members renew their membership as soon as possible. No bookings for Youth Members courses will be accepted until membership renewal and boat parking fees has been completed for season 2024.
Where there is a clash between the regular T&C’s and Booking Conditions the latter will take precedence.

HEALTH INFORMATION NOTE– it is imperative that you inform us of any Health related information that we should be aware of. The application process includes a new section relating to Health Information and MUST be completed to be able to proceed.
Youth Member Courses
An extensive range of 3 week Irish Sailing certified training courses for youth members are run through June, July and August. Start Sailing (L1), Basic Skills (L2), Improving Skills, Kites & Wires, L4 Combo (Go Racing & Advanced Boat Handling) and Adventure 1 Course Duration: 3 weeks, Mon-Fri. 9:30am – 4:30pm. Minimum age: 10 or 9 if trainee has completed our Opi Funfilled Taste of Sailing Course.

Opi Funfilled Taste of Sailing (OP*)
Ages: 8-9.
Our fun-filled Taste of Sailing Opi course is for young children who want to try dinghy sailing for the first time and enjoy the fun, the sea and getting comfortable with jumping in and out of dinghies at Sutton Creek.
The course is a mixture of waterside and in-boat experience under the watchful eye of our handpicked instructors. It is designed to introduce young children to the thrill of water and boats with minimum of stress and anxiety and encourage them to appreciate the marine environment and life at Sutton Dinghy Club.
Course Duration: 1 week, Mon-Fri. 10:30am – 3:30pm
Youth Open Courses (YC*)
Ages: 10-14 or 9 if trainee has completed our Opi Funfilled Taste of Sailing Course.
Start Sailing (Level 1) and Basic Skills (Level 2) – The aim of these courses is to provide young people with an opportunity to try the sport of dinghy sailing in a friendly, fun-filled and safe environment. It is our mission to infuse our novices with such a love of the sport that they will want to keep coming back for more. We provide all necessary equipment for these courses.
Course Duration: Mon-Fri. 10am – 4pm.
Teenage Open Courses 14-17 (TE*)
Ages: 14-17
Start Sailing (Level 1) and Basic Skills (Level 2) – The aim of these courses is to provide young people with an opportunity to try the sport of dinghy sailing in a friendly, fun-filled and safe environment. It is our mission to infuse our novices with such a love of the sport that they will want to keep coming back for more. We provide all necessary equipment for these courses.
Course Duration: Mon-Fri. 10am – 4pm.
Adult Start Sailing Courses (SSA*) and Adult Basic Skills Courses (BSA*)
Start Sailing (Level 1) – The aim of this course is to provide a brief taste of sailing for beginners. By the end of the course participants will have been introduced to basic boat handling techniques and essential background knowledge. It is recommended that all participants consolidate this short introduction with the Basic Skills course. Course Duration: 4 x 3 Hour Sessions (Evenings or Weekends)
Basic Skills (Level 2) – By the end of this course the successful sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor in light winds. Course Duration: 5 x 3 Hour Sessions (Evenings & Weekends)
