Day 2 here at the Irish Mirror Nationals in Lough Derg and the weather has started to change with light rain and a lot cooler at launch and heavier rain expected in the afternoon.
The morning started with Sutton Dinghy Clubs 1973 Mirror National champion David Dickson providing some local knowledge and weather tip in a pre-race briefing to the extended Irish team. All to race for with 2 more races today with what looks like wetter and a little windier conditions.
The day was a mixed one for the Sutton sailors with Sinead & Eve taking a very good 19th in the first race and lie in 24th overall. David & Rory improved on the previous days results with 2 mid 20’s and have moved up a place.
Shane & Ben lie 30th, Conor & Matthew lie 31st and lead the silver fleet at half way stage with David & Rory now in 32nd in the 68 boat fleet.
The second race was again fraught with flukey breeze and a massive wind-shift just at the start caught out all those on the left side of the course. This didn’t affect top 2 in the fleet as both managed very consistent top 5 results to maintain their places at top of the leader-board.

Tiernan Dickson (LRYC) lies in 9th place overall after adding a 6th to a 4th the previous day.
