The weekend of July 9-10 saw the MIrror Southerns take place in Lough Derg YC with 2 Sutton boats taking part. Oscar Langan and Lugaidh Croasdel finished 6th with Conor Twohig and Brian Sheehy taking 2nd overall. 2 race wins were not enough to take the Championship. But with the Mirror Nationals in Sutton on July 22-24, the guys will be delighted with their showing in their first event of the year.
Last weekend saw the ever popular Crosbie Cup take place in Lough Ree YC with again 2 Sutton representatives in the Regatta Fleet. Oisin Kelly was hoping to improve on his 5th at the Opi Ulsters while Tadgh O’Callaghan was taking part in his first event. Winds up to 20 knots forced him to retire on Saturday but he put in a few great races on the Sunday and while he found it challenging it was a good experience which should help do the confidence no end of good. Oisin took one race victory and 3rd overall to end a great event. Well done guys.
This week sees our last Mirror National Champion Shane McLoughlin sailing in the 420 World Championship in San Remo, Italy as part of Team Ireland. We wish Shane the best of luck this week.

There is a little group of young Optimist sailors getting some supervised sailing in and hopefully will be ready for the Club regatta next month. The GP14 are gearing up for the Leinster Championship with Hugh/Tim, Katie/Michelle, Peter/Stephen and Alan/David hoping to put up a good showing on home waters against current GP14 World, Irish and British Champion Shane MacCarthy.
