The Annual Sponsored Sail last Friday went ahead despite the fickle wind Gods. With the evening initially too windy to launch dinghies, the kids were brought out on the Ribs.
However with the wind abating a few Club PICO’s were launched and some sailing in the Creek got underway. Most of the kids are fresh from sailing courses and an opportunity to mix some sailing with a bit of fun.
It wasn’t long before a few gust reappeared but despite a few concerned faces amongst the parents, the kids were having a blast. A few capsizes meant skills learnt in the last few weeks were required to much earlier than some probably had anticipated. In these sort of conditions PICO’s are fun.
A great evening was concluded with food back in the Club followed by a DJ and some music and a bit of a prize-giving. A big thank you to Mandy Kelly and her team of volunteers and rib drivers.
