Sutton Dinghy Club sailors got the weekend of Championship racing off to a fantastic start today with race victories at both the IDRA14 National Championships in Lough Ree YC and the Mirror Nationals held in Royal Cork YC as part of Cork Dinghy Fest.
In windy conditions, Alan Henry & Simon Revil took victory from fellow SDC sailors Alan Carr & Ian McCormack. Julie Ascoop from Dun Laoghaire was 3rd with current National Champion Pat O’Neill (CYBC) in 4th. Charles Sargent & John Lynch from Sutton took 5th. Conditions saw gear failure, a fair number of capsizes and a few retirees including our own Commodore Jim Lambkin with Wendy Rudd. Racing continues Friday & Saturday. 
Down in Cork, the Mirror fleet managed 2 races in windy and tough conditions. A 1, 2 for Conor Twohig & Brian Sheehy leaves them tied for the lead with Lough Ree YC Jack Ryan & Ben Graf. Suttons other representatives Oscar Langan & Lughaidh Croasdel lie 10th. Racing continues through to Sunday. Results from Day1.
