Heading into the final day of what has been a great event, Sutton crews are well in the hunt for podium places in both IDRA14 and GP14 classes. VDLR 2015 Manning Committee Boat

With 2 races due on Sunday Alan Carr leads the IDRA14 fleet after taking 2 more bullets and a 3rd to hold a commanding lead from former National Champion Julie Ascoop. Charles Sargent got into gear also yesterday with a 6th and 5th in final 2 races.

In the GP14 fleet, Alan Blay and David Johnston lie 3rd overall after another very satisfying day. The pair took race 2 on Saturday to add to their race victory on Friday. A 6th and 8th leaves them 3 points behind World Champion winning crew Andy Tunnicliffe in 2nd place with Irish National Champion and Olympian Ger Owens leading the fleet.

The guys also were successful in the race committee room in getting a recorded 12th place in Fridays 3rd race replaced with a 5th. During the evenings prize-giving Alan & David received trophy for Race win in GP14 Leinster which is being run as part of the VDLR event. VDLR 2015 Race 1 Winner

In their first outing of the year Hugh Gill and Eanna Molony-Lawless lie 10th and only for a handling error right at the finish of last race would be a little higher.

Katie Dwyer and Michelle Rowley had a very good day with a 10th and 12th to leave them in 17th and 3rd in Silver Fleet. Peter and Stephen Boyle found the going a little tougher yesterday and lie 15th overall and 3rd in Bronze Fleet. VDLR 2015 Old Pals

Also great to see boatman Anto Kelly in the ‘George’. Many will remember Anto from his time here in Sutton Dinghy Club. Our Committee boat ‘Saoirse’ manned by Billy Bebbington, Padraic Boyle and Jim Lambkin will be finish boat for Harry Gallagher other dinghy fleet.

With final 2 races on Sunday, good luck to all the crews and lets hope we take some silverware across the bay this evening.
