Sutton Dinghy Club mourns the passing of Pat Murphy, former stalwart GP14 sailor in the Club and multiple lrish National Champion in GP14s and other Classes, as well as being a hardworking former member of our Committee. Pat owned the Dinghy Supplies sailing shop on the Dublin Road, supplying boats, fittings, equipment, marine clothing and sailing books to generations of SDC sailors. He and his late wife spent nine years sailing around the world on his yacht Aldebaran, returning occasionally to regale us with tales from their travels – and always supporting our annual “Cruse-In” barbecue. We have lost a true friend of SDC – may he rest in eternal peace.
