Hoping to regain the title will be Scorie Walls skippering Goldust, while Alan Blay and David Johnston will be aiming to improve on 3rd last year in Alan Pearsons Trick or Treat. Our Commodore Jim Lambkin takes the helm of Kieran Barker Papagina. Further Club involvement sees Harry Gallagher as PRO for the event. The event concludes on Sunday with 3 races on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
Last weekend saw Sutton Dinghy Club Annual Regatta take place on Sunday. A beautiful day saw 60 boats including 8 IDRA14, 5 GP14 and 11 Laser Radials. As well as Mirrors, Toppers and Laser 4.7 we saw 20 young Opi sailors including 14 Regatta fleet some racing for the very first time.
The weather gods favoured us this year following or cancellation last year and each fleet had 2 excellent races. HYC visitor Jamie McMahon won the Laser Radials, Alan Carr & Dana Kilroy took the IDRA14 prize, by winning the second race Stephen Boyle & Michelle Rowley took the GP14 prize after a 3 way tie that included son Peter Boyle & Shane McLoughlin and Hugh Gill & Conor Twohig. The Laser 4.7 prize was won by Cliona Fitzpatrick (MYC), with Aoife McMahon (HYC) first in Topper and Sophie Kilmartin (MYC) first in Optimist. Oisin Kelly from the host Club won the Opi Regatta fleet. The full set of results are on the website.
Thanks to the Race Committee & PRO’s, rescue crews and all volunteers who helped out on the weekend and the preparation.
