A superb sunny day greeted day one of the Optimist Crosbie Cup here in Sutton Dinghy Club. With a late tide, 70 boats took to the water with 40 boats in the inner Regatta Fleet and 29 boats in the outer Main Fleet.
The Regatta Fleet with race officers Stephen Boyle and Dick Dunne gave the novices 3 good races in ideal conditions. Plenty of emerging talent on view with some very close racing.
The Main Fleet encountered far more flukey conditions and race officers Richard Kissane and Jim Lambkin also had to contend with the fact their racecourse was very close to one of the Volvo Dun Laoghaire big boat race fleets. At time of going to post the 3rd race had just got underway.
