There is now less than 2 weeks to go to the Mirror World Championship in Lough Derg. Over the next few days and weeks we hope to highlight and celebrate Sutton Dinghy Clubs significant contribution to racing this very famous dinghy.
Since 1973, Sutton Dinghy Club has provided no fewer than 6 different Mirror National Champions, with 8 Mirror Championship titles between them. In addition Sutton Dinghy Club has also produced a Mirror British and World Open Champion.
Sutton Dinghy Club has also hosted the Mirror National Championships on two occasion (1978, 1986). Those who remember, 1986 was summer of Hurricane Charlie and our Nationals were staged the same week the Hurricane blew through. Anyone remember that event?.
We expect 4 Mirror teams from Sutton Dinghy Club to be on the start line for the events in Lough Derg with the Irish Mirror National Championships kicking on on Monday 22nd July.
