The Laser Connachts took place in Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club over the weekend. The event was capped at 100 sailors and was fully subscribed.
Great to again to see Sutton Dinghy Club represented at an Open LASER event. Even better to have 2 of our young sailors attend and gain some vital experience. Ciaran Durnford having dipped his toe at a couple of Laser 4.7 events last season, was attending his second Radial event of the season having travelled North a few weeks ago for the Ulster Championships.
For Ciaran, at 15years, sailing in a fleet of 29 sailors that included former Helmsman Champion of Ireland Sean Craig and Olympic hopefuls Aoife Hopkins and Eve McMahon, is big learning curve and will stand to him going forward. Also great to see another young sailor Sean O’Connor make the effort to travel for his very first Open event. A daunting experience in itself, Sean also faced 45 other boats on a Laser 4.7 start line for the first time.
