The 2015 Optimist Nationals concluded in Skerries Sailing Club on Sunday. Sutton Dinghy Club’s sole representative was one of the youngest competitors Oisin Kelly. Competing in only his 2nd Open event, Oisin aged 7 finished 26th from 46 in the Regatta Fleet.
In sometimes tough conditions, Oisin improved across the 4 days of competition and managed his best result on the final day when he finished 19th in race 12. Oisin was presented with a prize for his start on Race 5 on Day 2. Johnny Flynn a recent winner in the Sutton Dinghy Club Regatta took 2nd in the Regatta Fleet behind Jamie Venner (RCYC)
The Senior event was won by Skerries own Peter Fagan, while the Junior event was won by Conor Gorman (NYC). Eve McMahon (HYC) who crewed a Mirror with Sinead Dickson in recent seasons finished 5th.
