The Optimist Leinster Championships were held in Howth Yacht Club last weekend. Our own Jim Lambkin was in Howth supporting event PRO David Lovegrove. However with numbers restricted in Howth, the Leinsters Regatta Fleet element took place down the road at Malahide Sailing Club on Broadmeadows.
Sutton Dinghy Club involvement in Malahide saw 2 of our young Opi Squad compete with Aoife Clarke and Thomas Judge on the water in the fleet of 39 boats. Saturday was a good day for Thomas with a victory in the 1st race of the day, a 4th in Race 3 to lie 3rd overall going in to the Sunday. A little more wind on Sunday saw more experienced sailors come to the fore with Thomas finishing a very creditable 9th overall with Aoife in 23rd. Great to see the pair out in Malahide at what will be the first of many visits to Open events. Full Results HERE.
